Krug Grande Cuvée 166ème Édition 1.5L
$1,299.99
Krug Grande Cuvée is born from the dream of one man, Joseph Krug, to craft the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate. Since 1843, the House of Krug has honoured this vision with each new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the most generous expression of Champagne. Krug Grande Cuvée is re-created every year, beyond the notion of vintage and is a blend of over 120 individual wines from more than 10 different years. The fullness or flavours and aromas achieved by this careful art of blending would be impossible to express with the wines of a single year. Krug Grande Cuvée 166ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2010, a year defined by its tumultuous climate. The year’s Chardonnays did not express their usual freshness, a characteristic which Krug’s Cellar Master Eric Lebel counterbalanced with the remarkable vivacity of the year’s Meuniers. A light golden colour and fine, vivacious bubbles, holding a promise of pleasure. Aromas of flowers in bloom, ripe, dried and citrus fruits, as well as marzipan and gingerbread. Flavours of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, jellied and citrus fruits, almonds, brioche and honey. This mouthwatering Champagne feels like a swathe of raw silk on the palate, where flavors of sun-dried white cherry, toast and Meyer lemon peel are accented by expressive saffron, ground coffee and mandarin orange peel aromas. Long and racy on the honey-, spice- and smoke-laced finish. – Wine Spectator 2020, 95 Points The Finer Details Style – Champagne Varietal – 45% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay and 16% Meunier Country – France Region – Champagne Vintage – Non-Vintage Bottle Size – 1.5L Magnum ABV – 12%
