Brave New Wine Ambergris Ramato Pinot Gris 2020
$34.99
Brave New Wine Ambergris Ramato Pinot Gris 2020 is 100% Pinot Gris grown in Great Southern. This wine goes through a long Carbonic ferment, with skin contact until the ferment finished after crushing. It is unfined and unfiltered. No additions other than SO2 at bottling. Brave New Wine was conceived one dark and stormy night, as an antidote to Andries’ (ex) day job of working in conventional wineries. They started by making a barrel of whole-bunch Chardonnay, a skin-contact Riesling, and a Pet Nat. Hosana, it was a revelation! These are the wines they wanted to drink, and the wines that were the most fun and rewarding to make. After two redundancies they decided to make a red hot go of it alone – and Brave New Wine switched from being their side chick to their main bae. Reeks of pear and sour cherry. I like it. Edgy acidity dances through a slosh of pear-cherry flavours. Nice. Drinks well, has some musky funk to it, a little bite of tart acidity with a feel that you get from drinking good amaro or bitter liqueurs. Tannin rolls around the palate nicely too. Feels unkempt in a good way, like an errant bush. It’s wine though, so just drink it and go along for the ride. – Mike Bennie, Wine Front The Finer Details Style – White Wine Varietal – Pinot Gris Country – Australia Region – Great Southern Vintage – 2020 Bottle Size – 750ml ABV – 12.5%
