Grown in the ancient soils of Wilyabrup, Cullen wine comes from the heart of the land rather than the mind of the winemaker. Cullen Wines is a naturally powered, Carbon Neutral and certified Bio-dynamic estate in Wilyabrup, Margaret River. Amazing fruit! During this vintage, all of the Cabernet Sauvignon crop was harvested over the full moon fruit days of 7th, 8th and 9th of March. It was an enormous effort to be hand processing this amount of fruit in such a short time, especially in those hot conditions. It is very unlikely that this planetary line up will happen again at this level of maturity, making the 2012 Diana Madeline possibly a once in a lifetime wine. – Winemakers Notes A 76/17/7% blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc aged for 19 months in French barriques (38% new). The palate has astonishing power and length given its alcohol, reflecting the years during which the vineyard has been managed biodynamically, the soil filled with life and beneficial micro-organisms that are indisputably having a positive impact on the vines. You might well be looking at a wine from Bordeaux’s Left Bank, coiled up like a spring, but perfectly balanced, the finish almost painfully long.
