Grosset Springvale Riesling 2022
$49.99
Grosset Wines is an independently owned winery, producing seven highly regarded premium wines each vintage. Remaining small and focused has allowed Grosset to preserve the character and individuality of the wines, developing a significant international profile by producing wines deemed consistently outstanding – benchmarks in their class. Grosset Wines’ philosophy has remained steadfast for over thirty years. The emphasis is on purity of fruit. The estate vineyards, which are ACO certified organic, are hand-tended and each bunch of grapes is harvested at optimum ripeness. The winemaking process is gentle and uncomplicated. With dedication, discipline and the application of knowledge garnered through decades of experience, the result is the finest expression of variety and place. A truly unique viticultural site due to its geology, relative isolation and high altitude, Springvale vineyard was purchased by Grosset in 1999 and planted in 2000. The thin topsoil is made up of red loam over limestone, and, atypical for this sub-region, the vines are deeply rooted in slate bedrock. There is a north-south fault line on the eastern border, limiting the vineyard’s expansion. This formation dates back many hundred million years. Vineyard rows are oriented to optimise sunshine. The 2022 vintage was produced from riesling grown at Grosset Springvale Vineyard. Certified organic and biodynamic (ACO). Unfined – vegan and vegetarian friendly. Very intense and concentrated flavour. A bomb of lime and green apple, some floral/lily perfume, a fine white pepper dusty texture, very coiled up and firm, a whisper of aniseed, maybe, and a very long finish. Unusually tight and stony for a Watervale! An outstanding vintage for this wine. – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 95+ Points The Finer Details Style – White Wine Varietal – Riesling Country – Australia Region – Clare Valley, South Australia Vintage – 2022 Bottle Size – 750ml ABV – 12.9% Other – Organic, Biodynamic, Vegan Friendly Closure – Screw Cap Cellaring Potential – Up to 20 years from vintage
