Printhie Topography Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is a lovely expression of ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing the unique characteristics of the Orange region. Unlike the bolder more robust Cabernets from hotter regions this wine offers a softer more vegetal profile that sets it apart. It has benefited from 14 days on skins and a combination of 20% new oak and 1-3 year old French oak barrels, resulting in exceptional natural tannins and structure. On the nose, distinct notes of blackcurrant, red capsicum and pepper greet the senses, creating an inviting aroma. These flavors carry through to the palate, where they are beautifully balanced and intertwined. The gentle tannins and supple texture contribute to the wine’s approachability, making it an ideal companion for BBQs and a great lunchtime red. Printhie Topography Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 has the potential for cellaring over the next 5-8 years. Crafted from single vineyard, estate-grown grapes from nearly 25-year-old vines, this wine is the result of a unique vintage characterized by a drought year ripening in cool conditions. The lower elevation of the vineyard ensures excellent ripeness, while the oak maturation provides a subtle influence that enhances the wine’s overall profile. After maturing in French oak barrels and foudre barrels, the wine further matured in tank until bottling. In the glass, it showcases a bright red colour, with a varietal expression of ripe Cabernet evident in the flavors of blackcurrant, redskin and a hint of leafiness. Subtle notes of cedary, vanillin new French oak add complexity and depth. The wine’s balance, structure, and supple texture make it an immediate delight to drink.
